penny bonnie snow hutsOver the past decade Ice Follies has become a signature event for both North Bay, and the Northeastern region as a whole. Ice Follies appears to the visitor as a strange assemblage of dwellings and structures placed in a very wide semi-circle (or arc) out across the ice that is adjacent to the Government Dock and the Goulet Golden Mile walking path along North Bay’s waterfront. This eccentric community of artworks and architectures echoes the “communities” of ice fishing shacks found elsewhere on the lake. Video installations, sound-generating structures, assemblages of solar lights, ice letters and even working carousels have been erected in previous Ice Follies exhibitions. http://www.icefollies.ca/

install_01Black Water Art is a metaphor for the conceptual transition from one space to another. This event transforms the White Water Gallery Artist-Run Centre into a commercial venue for a short exhibition each year. During this time artwork will be installed in a salon style exhibition and sold on site. 100% of each sale goes directly to the artist making this a unique commercial opportunity for participants. The Youth Arts Initiative or YAI focuses on collaborative community projects and work together to make the world a better place. They also work to better themselves by bringing in professional artists for workshops, artist-talks and help give them the skills needed to succeed in life. Read more…
