Spreading awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias is of upmost importance to the Alzheimer Society of North Bay & District, as well as providing as many services possible to individuals and their loved ones. Their Dementia Art Program launched in January of 2011 and has had phenomenal response. It currently provides art services to five separate long term care homes, as well as has two spaces in which art sessions are provided to those individuals still at home. The purpose of the “Mindful Creations” exhibition is to shed light on the necessity of providing therapies such as art and its positive effects on the mind, as well as to demonstrate the unheard words and memories expressed through the process.
