Portrait of an Artist, 2014
32 cm x 32 cm x 4 cm
Most of the time I when I create works I typically use portraits/images of historical Canadians figures or famous women movie stars to create a dialogue. As artist/craftsman I have used the medium of clay/porcelain to express my ideas into decorative forms that have many meanings, interpretations or layers. In this particular piece I have used a variation of my own image on a porcelain plate to conjure up what I see as a portrait of an artist. Historically nearly all artists have used their own image to create their own portrait. Why is the question?
