Festival Prep Underway

The Youth Arts Initiative have completed their first large scale puppet as part of their plans for going to Anime North. They chose Haku from the Studio Ghibli production of Spirited Away. The YAI troop brought Haku to the Big Medicine Studio for a surprise visit to some of the youth participating in an Aanmitaagzi dance class facilitated by Penny Couchie. The YAI members gained important experience manipulating this 20 foot dragon before they navigate the streets of North Bay later this summer as part of the Active Arts Festival.

YAI is scheduled to create several more puppets this summer as part of the White Water Gallery and we look forward to their future creations.

PROFILES

June 8th – July 14th, 2012
Opening Reception Friday, June 8th from 6 – 7:30pm
(Closing Early for the 3B3 Fashion Show at WKP Kennedy!)

PROFILES is an exhibition of 6 local artists with curatorial statements provided by the White Water Gallery’s curatorial committee. This exhibition provides local artists the opportunity to exhibit their work after working directly with an emerging curator. A small publication will be made as well as an online exhibition featuring curatorial writings from each curator. We hope to expand this activity in the future and make PROFILES a yearly event.
