Meet our new Executive Director!

kataoka_headshotAfter a rigorous search the White Water Gallery is excited to announce the hiring of their new Executive Director, Serena Kataoka. The search began in February after Clayton Windatt, who has been fulfilling the role of Executive Director for the last seven years, confirmed that he would be leaving the position in June to pursue his independent arts practice.

Kataoka, a performance and video artist with a PhD in Political Science, has been active in the North Bay arts scene for the last three years. Since 2012 she has been a member of the Programming Committee for the Near North Mobile Media Lab and in 2013 she organized Why is North Bay a Creative City?, a panel discussion that featured several arts professionals from the North Bay area. In 2014 she worked with Aanmitaagzi as a performer in their presentation at Ice Follies and in their large-scale production Dances of Resistance. Kataoka is also a part-time faculty member in the departments of Social Welfare & Social Development; Gender, Equality & Social Justice; Political Science; and Criminology at Nipissing University.
