Morgan Skinner is a self-taught emerging artist working out of Toronto. His work presents a visual engagement with social, political, and religious discourse. Utilizing humour, satire, and ambiguity, Morgan draws from a vast iconographic program of images from art historical to popular culture which coax the viewer into re-questioning contemporary issues. Currently working with a number of Canadian activist organizations, Morgan’s aim is to create subversive images which evoke an empathic or contemplative response distinct from that derived from written or oral communications. While his preferred medium is paint, Morgan’s priority is the transmission of an idea and as a result he has worked in photography, sculpture, and print when it is more beneficial for the reception of the project.
