As a bibliophile, especially of art books, I never contemplated incorporating books into my painting practice. Recently a charcoal portrait of me completed by a friend showed me with many books of painters I admire. This provided me with the idea and was underscored when I viewed outstanding paintings of books by Canadian painter Paul Beliveau. This Art Icon painting is my first exploration of book covers as a painting subject.
