Todd Tremeer: War Up Close
September 11 – October 15, 2010
Reception: September 11, 2010, 6 – 9 pm
Todd
Tremeer’s new solo exhibition continues his work as a history
painter. Through the once prestigious genre called history painting,
he explores popular representations of war, nationhood,
reconstruction and memory. “Up Close” usually means direct
experience but Tremeer’s paintings characteristically address
histories known to us via second-hand sources such as war games,
films and museum dioramas. Tremeer simultaneously sees war “up
close” but afar. Todd Tremeer: War Up Close will be on view
at the White Water Gallery Artist-Run Centre from September 11th
to October 15th in North Bay, Ontario.
