Donate to White Water Gallery

As the end of the fiscal year approaches, many of us with a little extra to spare consider making charitable donations. There are various reasons why someone might want to donate, but it is important to take the time to think about why you are supporting an organization and where your money goes once it is donated. This year we would like you to consider making a donation to the White Water Gallery, and here are a few reasons why.

The White Water Gallery (WWG) is the oldest publicly funded art space in North Bay and has served its community for over 35 years by providing information, workshops, exhibitions, and events that promote and support innovative contemporary Canadian art. We are also a registered charity and can provide charitable tax receipts for all donations made. We strive to make ourselves accountable to our public and stay as active as possible by including members of our community in the planning, development, and implementation of our ongoing activities. We also actively partner with other arts and not-for-profit groups locally and provincially, host an active youth group for young emerging artists, and conduct outreach events on a regular basis.

The gallery uses its donations in the following ways:

  • Increasing staff time: WWG currently has only two part-time staff (Clayton & Robyn). Additional funds would allow for increased staff hours to be put towards developing and coordinating gallery projects, initiatives, educational activities and outreach.
  • Upgrading equipment: Equipment upgrades are a frequent and ongoing cost for organizations. Donations may be used to offset the cost of upgrading defective or outdated equipment, such as computer hardware or projectors.
  • Increasing programming: Programming at WWG consists of two separate categories which are Arts Presentations and Educational Activities. Presentations take the form of exhibitions, screenings, performances and readings while educational events are activities such as artist talks, workshops or panel discussions. Increased revenue gained through financial contributions would allow the gallery to increase the number and quality of its presentations and activities.

We are excited about many of the initiatives that we are working towards next year including more outreach and educational programming as well as several large-scale exhibitions of Canadian art. Your donations can help us achieve our goals and support a healthy, vibrant arts community. We hope you will consider making a contribution to the gallery this year, but if you decide to donate to another organization make sure it is going to have an impact on your community or make someone’s life better. Make sure they can clearly state how they will use the money and why your contribution is important to them.
